Jean Racine

Jean Racine (Jean Racine Mbaye) is a Senegalese singer born in Kaolack, who spent nearly fifteen years between France and the United States. A self-taught guitarist, he discovered the instrument while studying in Strasbourg and played in the streets and the Paris metro, where a producer spotted him.

He sings in French and Wolof and calls his music « groovy afro-folk »: folk, funk, reggae and soul with afrobeat touches. His album « Ivre du son » (2008) was recorded in New York with Henry Hirsch (Lenny Kravitz, Vanessa Paradis).

He played the big top on 13 June 2008.
