Emzel Café

A trio from Grenoble that grew out of the street show Les Alcoolytes and became Emzel Café in 2007, the band cut its teeth busking in France, Belgium and Quebec before moving to stages. Two guitars, a flute, three voices and electronics: it plays a burlesque, high-energy “electro-organic chanson” with satirical humour and a punk spirit.

It recorded “Le derrière des choses” (2007), “Hourvari” (2008), “En cavale aux heures de pointes” (2010) and “Le monde en bouteille” (2012), launched at the New Morning in Paris in May 2012. It has played more than 300 shows in France, Switzerland, Belgium and Quebec, and worked with director Maïa Rubinstein Khan and producer Mike D’Inca, singer of Sinsemilia.

It played Les Mouillotins in 2010.
